Baltimore Orioles (+124) over Toronto Blue Jays
Analysis: Baltimore has summoned the services of highly-touted starting pitcher Kevin Gausman for tonight's game as he is the Orioles' number two prospect and has garnered a solid 3.23 ERA in 61.1 innings pitched in the minors this season. Â Gausman possesses excellent command control with a 98 mph fastball, together with an above-average curveball and slider. Â Gausman's first assignment under the bright lights is against a struggling Toronto lineup that is batting .242 with a .305 on base percentage this season (4.2 runs per game), including hitting .234 with a .307 on base percentage against right-handed starters (4.1 runs per game) and .229 with a .295 on base percentage at night (3.9 runs per game). Â I also like the fact that Gausman is supported by a solid Baltimore bullpen that owns a 3.40 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 2013, including a 3.03 ERA and 1.18 WHIP on the road.
Meanwhile, Toronto right-hander Brandon Morrow has been a huge disappointment this season as evidenced by his 5.16 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in eight starts, including a 6.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP versus division opponents and a 5.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over his last three outings. Â Let's also note that Morrow is 3-3 with a pedestrian 4.55 ERA in ten career starts against the Orioles. Â Finally, Morrow is hampered by a mediocre Toronto bullpen that owns a 4.25 ERA at home, a 3.98 ERA at night and a 4.57 ERA over the last seven games. Â With Baltimore standing at a profitable 14-7 (+9.8 units) on the road in May, 20-12 (+10.2 units) as road underdogs of +125 or less and 55-42 (+22.7 units) versus division opponents, take the Orioles and invest with confidence.
